Personal Digital Device Guidelines
The Kamloops-Thomspon School District Student Code of Conduct outlines the following guidelines (in Procedure 1) for personal digital device use at school.
1.5. Comply with restrictions on personal digital device use at school to promote online safety and focus on creative learning environments by demonstrating:
- 1.5.1 use of personal digital devices for instructional purposes and digital literacy development;
- 1.5.2 use of personal digital devices that is appropriate to a student’s age and developmental stage;
- 1.5.3 use personal digital devices for accessibility and accommodation needs, including medical and health needs;
- 1.5.4 use personal digital devices to support equitable access to learning outcomes.

All phones when brought to school by a student are to remain in their lockers during the school day. If a student needs to use their phone to contact someone, they may ask a staff member, and if given approval, they may use it at their locker. It will be returned to their locker when done. Students completing school tasks requiring technology will use technology devices provided by the school. PDDS other than phones, such as smart watches, will not be allowed to be used for communication or social media usage. Usage will be monitored by staff. Office phone use will be encouraged, as it is available for use upon request from the school steno. |
